Manicure Trends for Winter 2022

January 24, 2022

One of the great joys of my job is discovering the new trends of the season. Since manicures are perfect for adding a fashionable touch to your looks, I chose to find the nail lacquer shades that will be in style this winter.

The Tortoiseshell Manicure

This new nail art style has become so popular on social media that it is now the must-have of the season. To recreate these small, warm-colored speckled patterns that resemble turtle shells, a layering technique is required:

Step 1

Mix 1 drop of OPI Infinite Shine Yellow Lacquer with 3 drops of Base Coat to create a light, yellow lacquer. Apply a thin coat.

Step 2

Mix 2 drops of OPI Endless Sun-Ner Light Brown Nail Lacquer with 1 drop of Top Coat. Make small abstract spots on your nails.

Step 3

Mix 2 drops of OPI Krona-logical Order Dark Brown Nail Lacquer with 1 drop of Top Coat. Apply this color over the speckled patterns you made earlier while leaving a subtle outline of light brown.

Step 4

Apply Top Coat for maximum hold.

The Colorful French Manicure

To all the indecisive women who spend too much time choosing the right nail lacquer color!

Whether you’re going for a mismatched or uniform look, one thing is for sure, it’s getting colorful on your French manicure this winter. We recommend checking out OPI’s new nail lacquer collection, Play the Palette. You’ll find the perfect shades to create a colorful winter French manicure. You’re sure to fall in love!

The Abstract Spaces

Abstract art will be landing on your nails this season! This new trend has already been adopted by several celebrities, including Kylie Jenner. To achieve this nail art look, simply make a series of thin, abstract and asymmetric lines on your nails.

To recreate this look, we recommend using OPI Passion Nude Nail Lacquer as your base color. To create the designs, choose OPI’s Rated Pea-G green and Funny Bunny white. Don’t forget your base coat and top coat if you want to keep the beauty of your creation alive.

The Geometric Shapes

Bring out your inner artist and make your nails Picasso-like! The idea is to create pretty cubic or rectangular shapes on your nails to stand out from the crowd. You can go for a chic and minimalist look using neutral colors like beige and brown or choose vibrant colors like blue and purple for a trendy and original manicure.

We recommend combining OPI’s Endless Purple Pursuit and Mali-Blue Shore gel colors from the Infinite Shine2 collection. These lacquers have a long-lasting effect, and no LED light is required. So, you can wear your masterpiece for 7-10 days before it starts to chip.

The Manicure with Descending Strips

Why not extend the band of your manicure down the side of your nails? This style is very similar to the French manicure mentioned above, but we’ve added glitter and a thin descending band. So, it deserves its own place in the trends section, don’t you think? If you want to make jealous among your group of girls, this is the manicure to have absolutely. To recreate this style, we suggest you use OPI My Private Jet Lacquer in a shiny brown shade and add a clear glitter lacquer.

The Mismatched Manicure

To top it all off, you can play with colors and patterns, even combining different trends in the same manicure; tortoiseshells, mismatched colors, geometric and abstract shapes, anything goes! Do you also think the new Play the Palette nail lacquer collection by OPI lives up to its name this season?
