Secrets to Healthy Hair

January 13, 2022

The question that comes up most often when talking about hair is, “How do I get healthy hair?” While it’s important to maintain your hair at the hair salon it is also important to take care of it at home by using the right products. Here are a few tips on keeping your hair healthy!

1. Brush your Hair Before you Shower

When your hair is wet, it is more vulnerable to breakage. Therefore, it is important to detangle your hair before you enter the shower. Brushing your hair distributes the oils that are located at your roots and brings them to your ends. It will also be easier to apply products in your hair once you are in the shower if you take the time to remove your knots prior to showering.

2. Condition

If you are a dry shampoo user, this step is extremely important seeing that your scalp will probably be drier than most people. It is important that you nourish your midlengths to ends with a good conditioner. We recommend using Bain De Terre’s Coconut Papaya Ultra Hydrating Conditioner for best results. Leave on for one minute then rinse out.

3. Hair treatments

Use a hydrating hair treatment at least once a week. If you use hot tools daily, then we recommend stepping it up to 2X a week. This will keep your hair soft, shiny, and healthy. We recommend using the Bain De Terre Shea Butter and Honey Intensive leave-in treatment Supreme.

4. Turn Down the Temperature

As amazing as taking a hot shower might feel, it is bad for your skin and scalp. It can irritate and make your skin dry and flaky. It is recommended to keep the water warm and once you are done, do a shot of cool water to give your hair a boost of shine and this will also seal your cuticles shut.

5. Use a Heat Protector

Protecting your hair from the heating styling tools you use is a very important step in haircare that most skip! Not only does it protect but also adds shine and conditions your hair with moisturizing ingredients. We recommend using Bain De Terre’s Recovery Complex serum. Can be used on damp or dry hair and will tame flyaways.

6. Get a Trim

It is important to get a trim regularly to ensure that your strands stay healthy and don’t break off. Getting one every 2-3 months to get rid of those split ends will make your hair grow faster. If your hair is short, then you may have to go in more frequently for maintenance.
