My Thoughts on Pravana

December 3, 2020

Pravana is known for their Vivids semi-permanent hair colour. They have been introduced in the business for 14 years and is the industry’s largest semi-permanent creative colour. They have a bunch of different type of colour lines varying from regular colours to brights and pastels but that’s not what I’m here to talk about today.

Today I will be talking about their hair care line. I have tested out a few of their shampoos and conditioners. Lately, my hair has been feeling dry. I am trying to lighten them but bleach isn’t anyone’s friend. That’s when I thought of what better time than to test out the Pravana Intense Therapy conditioner and shampoo.

Its main function is to heal and nourish damaged hair, rehydrating it without weighing it down. It is clinically proven to reduce breakage by up to 98%. It works on every type of hair that is damaged. Upon opening both bottles, I noticed how good the scent was. It smells fresh yet yummy, somewhere between a salon shampoo and yummy candies, if that makes sense. I noticed that most of their products have this same yummy scent and I am a fan of anything that smells yummy. I looked up their ingredients in both the shampoo and conditioner: it contains Egyptian Blue Lotus, malachite and blue/green algae that are packed with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and amino acids. It makes hair silky, smooth, shiny, stronger and easy to style.

The shampoo is lightweight and glides on easily. After massaging your hair for a few seconds, the lather builds up slowly. However, I noticed with the conditioner, it was way thicker even the Perfect Blonde Conditioner had the same type of consistency. It was the first time that I noticed a conditioner feeling more like a mask rather than a liquid. As you’re washing it off, it feels silky almost as if I had done a quick hair mask. I noticed how thick my hair got after using the shampoo, it definitely hydrated and plumped my hair.

Their Super Shape Extreme Hair Spray is 100% vegan and gluten-free. It provides an impenetrable medium-high hold that doesn’t weigh hair down, colossal volume and supernatural shine, making it ideal for styles that need to hold all day such as high ponytails and up-do’s. I wouldn’t use this hairspray if you are leaving your hair down with soft waves. This hair spray is meant to keep hairstyles fixed in place because it has a strong hold.

Overall, I am very excited about this brand! I am even more excited to try their hair colours, especially in the summertime with all of their fun vivid and pastel colours!

On another day, I tried their Intense Therapy Treat hair mask. This mask was different from others in its consistency, it isn’t as thick as other hair masks. I left it in for 5 minutes then washed it out. Because my hair is so thick, I felt like it didn’t do much in terms of hydrating my dry hair, perhaps someone who has thin hair would better suit this hair mask. It does, however, smell really great just like all of their other shampoo and conditioners.
